MYCO-DYNAMIC GARDENING: Home gardening with mushrooms
June 4, 2011, 9 am – 4pm
With Patrick Garretson

Mushrooms are hidden and scarcely understood treasures in our gardens and farms. They are highly efficient at breaking down toxins, enhancing soil vitality, and providing nutritious and medicinal food. They are also a key component in ecology restoration. In this workshop, we’ll explore these dynamics and mysteries of the mycosphere, experiencing hands on techniques of “myco-dynamic” gardening. Mushroom propagation will be demonstrated with enough material so students can take some home.

THE INNER NATURE OF WATER
June 5, 2011, 9 am – 4pm
With Patrick Garretson

Water is the medium through which all life emerged. It is the sculptor
and blueprint of organic form, and the elixir that sustains every living
being. Cultures throughout the world have venerated water as a divine
substance, imbued with not only the essential energy for life, but also
wisdom and knowledge of our true nature.

In this workshop we will discover the hidden qualities of water and its
relation to the greater universe, eliciting a deeper understanding of
flowforms and other innovative water technologies. We will begin with
simple observations of waters structure, its fluid motion, and its various
expressions of vital quality. Then from the scientific perspective, we’ll
take a brief tour of water’s role in mythology and culture, and
cross-reference it with further scientific findings.

Students will apply these concepts through a planning exercise focusing on energizing springs, ponds, and home-scale water systems.

$60 - $90 Sliding Scale, Bring a bag lunch.

BRAINTANNING BUCKSKIN
July 16-17, 2011
With Tamara Wilder

Braintanned buckskin is a beautiful, soft, durable, and washable leather which is made using the same natural, non-toxic, and biodegradable methods employed by most Native American groups.  In this two day class, participants will partake in the whole process-from scraping the hide to smoking the softened buckskin.  The group will tan about one hide for every four people and, if all goes well, each person should take home at least 1/4 of a finished buckskin.

This workshop begins Saturday morning at 9 am and finishes Sunday evening at 6 or 7 pm.  Saturday dinner and Sunday Breakfast are included (simple omnivorous fare). Bring a potluck item for Saturday and Sunday lunch, and snacks to keep your energy up through the weekend.  Camping and hot showers included.

$160 - $200 sliding scale.

TRIYOGA AND DEEP ECOLOGY RETREAT
July 22-25, 2011
With Kashi Ananda and Kari Stettler

In this retreat we deepen into an experience of Triyoga, the art and science of yogaflow through the meditative trinity of asana (postures), pranayama (breath) and mudra (focus).  Through this transformative practice, our flow of life energy is strengthened and revitalized.  Woven into our shared yoga practice, we will experience the Work that Reconnects based on the teachings of deep ecologist and eco-philosopher, Joanna Macy.  Experiential exercises and rituals will be offered in the embrace of nature with the intention of illuminating our interconnectedness in the web of life and our authority to take action on its behalf.

Accommodations are mainly camping with a few indoor rooms available for an additional fee.  Amenities are rustic and off the grid with beautiful creek-side private, solar heated outdoor showers, outdoor private composting toilets with amazing views and an artisian spring-fed pond for swimming.  Organic, vegan meals prepared by Luna Hart will be nutritious, rejuvenating and light.
